Tour Overview

July 5th to July 9th, 2024

5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS

Cuba is an eternal musical island. In every corner of its cities you can always hear the melody of an old radio, a modern stereo or a pair of claves and an a capella voice. Ciudad del Mar is an alternative music festival held every year in the city of Cienfuegos, a city baptized as the Pearl of the South. The director of this project is Jorge Luis Robaina, popularly and affectionately known as Jorgito Karamba for being the leader of the group that bears the same name. Throughout its ten editions it has managed to bring together Cuban and foreign musicians, including on one occasion the finalists of La Voz España.

Join us on this great musical adventure, where besides enjoying the good Cuban alternative music, you will appreciate the historical, architectural and cultural charms of 3 great cities such as Havana, Cienfuegos and Trinidad.

To guarantee the departure of this group tour, a minimum of 4 people is required.

Itinerary

Day 1. Friday, July 5th, 2024

HAVANA

Welcome to Havana! Your adventure begins as you are met at the airport by our friendly driver and transferred to your accommodation in the city center. Once you check-in and settle in, take your time to meet other members of the group and/or enjoy the surroundings. Be ready to enjoy a delicious welcome dinner at a private Cuban paladar while enjoying the most amazing spectacle from members of the well-known Buena Vista Social Club. Take into account that a paladar is a small, familyrun restaurant. This means you are contributing to the economic well-being of some Cuban families.

Your driver will be ready at midnight to take you back to your accommodation place. In case you want to stay to continue enjoying the music, please, bear in mind you’ll have to take a taxi on your own for the way back.

Meals Included: Dinner

Day 2. Saturday, July 6th, 2024

HAVANA-CIENFUEGOS

This morning, pull on your walking shoes and your cooler cloth, and get ready to discover the history behind the magnificent buildings of Old Havana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982. You will get lost in the charm of the Plaza de la Catedral; the Plaza de Armas, where the village of San Cristobal de La Habana was founded in 1519; the Plaza Vieja, where the famous Cámara Oscura is located; and the Plaza de San Francisco de Asis, known as the Plaza de las Palomas. Before lunch, take some minutes to visit the handicraft market “Almacenes de San Jose” and buy the most special souvenirs for your loved ones. You’ll feel the real essence of Cubans while interacting with the vendors. They always welcome you with the great smile and warmth that characterize most Cubans.

Time flies and it’s lunch time!!! Enjoy local food and live music at a private paladar in the area. After lunch, you’ll have time to take a nap on the way to Cienfuegos, a province located in the central part of Cuba and known as the “Pearl of the South”. It will take around 3 hours to get there, so, make sure to carry your travel pillow with you. Once in Cienfuegos, you will check in at your private casa, and have free time to take a shower and relax. After dinner, enjoy the public activities planned by the festival of alternative music Ciudad Del Mar.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3. Sunday, July 7th, 2024

CIENFUEGOS

Cienfuegos is an elegant small city with an eclectic style mix. It was founded by French settlers in 1819, so you’ll notice the French influence once you walk its streets during the tour of its historic center. While walking its boulevard, don’t forget to visit the handicraft markets and the statue of Benny More located at the longest Prado of Cuba. Delight your paladar with a delicious Cuban lunch right in front of the Bay. Enjoy the view and the breeze of this city that enchants and discover the reasons why the famous Cuban musician Benny More said: “Cienfuegos es la ciudad que más me gusta a mí” (in English: Cienfuegos is the city I like the most).

After lunch, you’ll continue to the Palacio de Valle, a spectacular palace from 1917 with an outstanding architecture and history behind its walls. Each of its 3 towers – tower of Strength, tower of Religion and tower of Love – hides a great story. Do you want to discover it? Be patient, you will do it while spending an excellent time at its terrace bar with Jorgito Karamba, director and leader of the Cuban Pop Rock band Karamba and President of the Festival Ciudad del Mar. During this exchange, besides enjoying good music in an informal way, you will be able to learn about the private businesses that many artists -like him- develop in the beautiful island and how this supports the Cuban entrepreneurs. Jorgito Karamba is well known in the island and abroad not only for his music but also for his private business named “360 Producciones S.R.L”. This project is a leader in the development and production of music festivals and events of all kinds inside and outside Cuba. “360 Producciones” also manages content, promotes, designs and markets the businesses of other entrepreneurs who require its services. They are the promoters and organizers of festivals such as: Un puente hacia La Habana, San Remo Music Awards Cuba, Mi Habana Baila and Ciudad Del Mar, among others. Learn a little bit more with charismatic “amigo” and make him your “amigo” también.

Time to return to your casa, take a shower and get ready for dinner. After dinner, continue enjoying the public activities planned by the festival of alternative music Ciudad del Mar.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 4. Monday, July 8th, 2024

CIENFUEGOS-TRINIDAD-HAVANA

One hour from Cienfuegos and 4 from Havana, Trinidad holds the Guinness World Record for the biggest Canchanchara in the world. Walk its city center, enjoy a Canchanchara -typical cocktail of Cuba- and visit the Valle de los Ingenios. After lunch, get ready to go back to Havana. Recharge your batteries during these 4-hour ride and enjoy your farewell dinner at a Habanera private paladar. We suggest you to dress in white and/or red since these colors represent energy, power, passion and optimism. During this farewell dinner, it will be really appreciated if your could give us your feedback on the tour. Don’t feel sad. This is not a GOODBYE, CUBA!, this is just a HASTA PRONTO!

Note that CUBACELTUR is a service offered by ETECSA, the Cuban telephone operator. Sagua Services & Travel does not benefit from this operator. It only provides information for its clients.
